If you plan on traveling to India you will need an official visa. All foreigners from eligible countries can apply online and received their visa approval by email. Check if your country is listed on the designated countries allowed visiting India. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your date of arrival in the country. Make sure that there are at least two pages left blank in your passport for the Immigration official at the Arrivals desk to stamp. Visa fees can be paid online but are not refundable should your visa be rejected for any reason. Make a print-out of your Tourist Visa Approval letter and carry it with your passport when traveling to India.
How to Apply
To apply for an e-visa India, you will have to scan a copy of the front page of your original passport and take a digital photograph with a camera or your smart phone on a white background. Before completing your application online, make sure that you have your documents ready on the system you plan to use, i.e. your laptop, IPad, or Smartphone, for uploading. Submit your application and pay the required visa fees. Please note that these fees are non-refundable should your application not be accepted. The Indian Embassy has the authority to grant or reject any visa application.
Allow at least 4 business days to receive your Indian visa with a window period of 120 days prior to your arrival in India. These delivery periods are different for Chinese and Sri Lankan nationals. Allow 5 business days for visas that require urgent processing and 10 business days for normal visa application processing.
Official India visas are valid for 60 days from arrival in the country and must be availed while valid. India visas for business or tourist purposes are valid for 2 entries and visas for medical purposes are valid for 3 entries. India visas have a maximum of 2 visits per calendar year. There are 25 designated airports to enter India but visitors can exit from any of the authorized Indian check posts (ICPs).
It is very important to note that you must not submit another application for Indian visa on the same passport number once you have initiated or submitted your original application. To prevent duplicity and redundancy, all and any subsequent visa applications you submit will be rejected by the Indian Government. Once a visa application has been submitted or a visa granted it cannot be amended, cancelled, or refunded. You are strongly advised to carefully check and review all the details before submitting a visa application and making payment. You will not be granted another visa for the same passport number until your previous visa has expired, even if the details are incorrect. If you have any doubts you can contact the customer care service that is available 247 to prevent any problems from occurring that could affect your travel plans.
